LMR Cable - Times Microwave

Times Microwave

LMR® cables are high performance coaxial communications cables designed and manufactured by Time Microwave Systems for use in nearly all wireless system applications. The cables are more flexible than corrugated cables and exhibit much lower loss than traditional RG cables.

Additional LMR® products include high performance connectors in popular interfaces, prep tools, installation tools.

The standard Times Microwave LMR® is a UV resistant polyethylene jacketed cable designed for 20-year service in outdoor use. Depending upon size, LMR® cable has a solid copper or copper clad solid aluminium centre conductor. Their bending and handling characteristics are significantly better than air-dielectric and corrugated hard-line cables. LMR®-DB cable has a waterproofing compound to prevent moisture intrusion after a minor abrasion. Times Microwave EZ series and TC series connectors are suitable for use on standard LMR®and LMR®-DB cables.

Times Microwave LMR®- UltraFlex (UF) cables have a stranded bare copper center and a rubber jacket (black thermoplastic elastomer) designed for repeated bending. Times Microwave TC series crimp connectors are designed for use on LMR®UltraFlex cables.

LMR's RF shielding is typically 50 dB greater than standard coax. The copper shield and multi-ply bonded foil outer conductor is rated conservatively at greater than 90 dB. That's better than 180 dB isolation between two adjacent cables.

A wide variety of connectors are available for LMR® cables, including all common interface types, reverse polarity, and a choice of solder or non-solder centre pins. Most LMR® connectors employ crimped outer attachment using standard hex-crimp methods.

LMR® Bundled Cable is a spiral configuration of multiple LMR®-400 or smaller LMR® cables under a common polyethylene outer jacket. This innovative design acts as the perfect feeder cable for applications requiring multiple runs, such as on towers or building top sites. A unique, patented grounding fixture grounds the outer shields of each cable and a rugged end cap seals the bundle to prevent moisture ingress at the break-out point. LMR® Bundled Cable can be supplied as complete assembly with break outs and connectors on both ends, and as a single ended assembly (base can be trimmed and terminated after installation on tower), or as a raw cable and accessories along with easy to use tools. Pictorial instructions and installation videos are available to assist in the installation of the accessories.

LMR®- LLPX is an indoor highly fire retardant cable intended specifically for runs within return air handling plenums (e.g. dropped ceilings, raised floors). It has a UL/NEC & CSA rating of ‘CMP’ and ‘FT6’ respectively. Flexibility and bendability are hallmarks of the LMRLLPX cable design. The flexible outer conductor enables the tightest bend radius available for any cable of similar size and performance. Low Loss is another hallmark feature of LMRLLPX. Size for size LMR has the lowest loss of any flexible cable and comparable loss to semirigid hard-line cables.

RF Shielding is 50 dB greater than typical single shielded coax (40 dB). The multi-ply bonded foil outer conductor is rated conservatively at > 90 dB (i.e. >180 dB between two adjacent cables). LMR-LLPX cables are designed for indoor Plenum applications. LMR-LLPX can also be used for applications that originate outdoors (e.g., rooftop) and subsequently enter the building.

A variety of connectors are available for LMR-LLPX cable, including the most common interface types. Most employ crimp outer attachment using standard hex crimp sizes.

LMR-LW is a lightweight, low loss coaxial cable that employs an aluminium braid shield instead of the traditional tinned copper shield. LMR-LW has been designed and engineered with a combination of electrical, physical and mechanical properties that reduce weight and cost.  The flexibility and bend-ability that are the hallmarks of LMR are also the same for LMR-LW. The flexible outer conductor enables the tightest bend radius available for any cable of similar size and performance. Low Loss is another hallmark feature of the LMR-LW cable. Size for size LMR® has the lowest loss of any flexible cable and comparable loss to semi-rigid hard-line cables. RF Shielding is 50 dB greater than typical single shielded coax (40 dB). The multi-ply bonded foil outer conductor is rated conservatively at > 90 dB (i.e. >180 dB between two adjacent cables). LMR-LW cables are designed for outdoor exposure to incorporate the best materials for UV resistance and have life expectancy in excess of 20 years. LMR-LW uses the same connectors, tools and installation accessories as standard LMR®. A wide variety of connectors are available for LMR-LW cable range including all common interface types, reverse polarity, and a choice of solder or non-solder center pins. Most LMR connectors employ crimp outer attachment using standard hex crimp sizes.

TIMES MICROWAVE SYSTEMS have introduced an exciting new series of LMR® cable products which are highly resistant to rodent damage. The RodentRepel® cable jacket contains a proprietary non-hazardous, non-toxic additive that discourages rodents and other animals from chewing the cable. The additive is environmentally safe and not harmful to humans, birds or animals. The repellent exhibits a scent that animals readily associate with predators and interpret as a danger signal but that is imperceptible to people. Times RodentRepel® coaxial cables also include the LMR® watertight “DB” feature for excellent resistance to water ingress and are compatible with all Times connectors, tools and accessories.
